Easy chickpea salad

Looking to satisfy your salad craving without compromising on your Nepali taste bud? Then this recipe is for you. It uses simple ingredients; it is easy to prepare and guarantees to delight your taste buds.

What you need:

1 can of chickpea
1 cup full of baby spinach
8 cherry tomatoes
¼ medium size red onion
¼ English cucumber
5/6 bacon slices
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
3 tablespoons of olive oil
½ teaspoon of turmeric powder
½ teaspoon of chilli powder
Salt to taste


1. Wash chickpeas thoroughly, chop up onion and cucumber, cut the tomatoes into halves.

2. Heat up oil in a pan. Add turmeric, chili and cumin powder and let them splutter for a couple of seconds. Cook bacon in microwave or cook it in another pan separately.

3. Add chickpeas to the pan and mix them well.

4. Cook chickpeas for about 3 minutes in medium heat, add tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes in low heat.

5. In a salad bowl, put the cut spinach, cucumbers and onion. And add chickpea mix that you just cooked to the salad bowl.

6. Add lemon juice to the bowl, and mix everything well. Crumble the bacon and add it over the salad. Your scrumptious salad is ready.

    Even though it looks delicious, frying chickpeas in oil defeats the purpose of eating salad. Just Saying
